Are Your Travel Apps Denying You Vacation Time?

Today travel apps are taking over the way we see the world, such as being able to zoom in to a relative’s home in Europe right from your Smartphone. Forget about exposing your kids to the world, this may be the only way you are getting exposed to the world right now. This may cut down on any vacations you could take or it may create vacations you want to take.
The App gurus who create these apps are brilliant. Who knew that nowadays we wouldn’t have to buy special equipment like a space shuttle, fly to inaccessible locations and pay thousands for amazing photography? If you love star gazing, there’s an astronomy app for that. You can be downtown NYC, aiming your Smartphone to the day or night sky and it shows you all the constellations with names. You really don’t have to pack up the family and travel to the countryside or canyon where it’s pitch dark out anymore. Other great travel apps to use are live location webcams. There’s one app that allows you to view more than 5000 live webcams from all over the world which shows pictures of places, streets, landscapes, weather radars, traffic maps and even surf conditions at local beaches.
This new generation is used to using many applications on their phones. Photography has changed drastically by giving you free special lenses and graphics to apply instantly. A movie clip can be edited with an app that costs a few bucks, no need to dish out hundreds for pro software and tag along equipment.
Have you been dying to go on a killer nature hike on one of the many terrains that North America has to offer? Using the National Park apps that offer HD maps at more zoom levels, allow you to see the highest peak and the lowest hidden caves.
We all have our take on these travel apps. They may be a way to postpone your family’s vacation and forking out the much needed money for now. But when it comes time for that excursion, these apps will have you well prepared. What are your favorite “escape” travel apps?
